DETAILS Outline and Volume distribution
Balance is the key for beginner boards, as you tend to move around on the board a lot when you are learning. The boards are short and wide - not just in the middle but also in the nose and tail area, and the volume distribution is even. That makes them stable along the length- and width-axis and gives the newcomer a lot of confidence. A flat bottom curve gives a long water line for good non-planing speed and upwind performance.
TRIM
The mast base is centered and very close to the center fin, respectively daggerboard. This makes the board react quickly to rig and foot steering.
The boards have 16 different options to mount the foot straps (4 basic set-ups with 4 possibilities each): 1.) for the first time foot strap users, 2.) for the slightly advanced, 3.) for the Freeride-beginner, and 4.) for the performance-oriented Freeride.
NEW SCHOOL 180 ES & ASA
ES - Epoxy Sandwich Technology with large EVA pad and Centerfin
ASA - ASA - Sandwich Technology with full EVA Deck, Noseprotector and Daggerboard
READY FOR TAKEOFF In the past, the step from a beginner board onto a conventional Freeride was too big for many and they got out of windsurfing again. The 180 combines the easy handling of a beginner board with the performance of a Freeride.
DETAILS Center fin (Epoxy Sandwich)
Those ready for the second step or light and talented first timers don’t need a daggerboard which ads a substantial amount of weight to a board. The center fin creates sufficient lift for going upwind and avoids drifting sideways. For the intermediate, the center fin pushes the board onto a semi-plane. The advanced sailor, one who is able to plane, removes the center fin and utilizes the supplied Powerbox plug (fin base) to cover the fin-slot.
Daggerboard (ASA+EVA Technology)
The beginner will prefer the extra stability and superior upwind pointing ability provided by the daggerboard.
Nose Protector, EVA Deck
The ASA version comes with a noseprotector and carrying handles as well as a full EVA deck. The Epoxy Sandwich version comes with a deck pad covering the whole rear of the board and the area around the mast track.
